I have been using manual siphons for many years. You always leave me disappointed. They also left what I was trying to put back in its original place. With that in mind, I tried this siphon. I expected to have to assemble it and go through hoops to get it working. Boy was I wrong! I opened the hard case (nice touch) it was packed in, plugged it in (I used a DC/DC converter as the only power option is from a 12v car socket) and turned it on. The pump has an arrow showing the direction of flow. Everything is collected. The thing is quiet and works like a dream. The converter I used was the following: Schumacher PC-6 120AC to 6A 12V DC Power Converter.
