Well designed, easy to install

American Lighting Fixed Wire Base Xenon Cabinet Well designed, slim (7/8 inch high) making it easy to hide, easy to install and connect is in series with the Priori connection cable (sold separately). The light cover closes with a magnetic catch that is much more secure than the spring catch American Lighting used to use on halogen lights under cabinets. There are a couple of issues: First, the thin profile (7/8 inch) does not allow the romex connector nut to rotate, so it is necessary to hold the nut in place and rotate the romex connector, and then the romex connector to tighten . connected with Romex wire. it's a little awkward, but not difficult. Second, make sure the headlight cover is properly installed when closed. The lid can be closed if the rear pins are misplaced, making it very easy to knock the lid off after closing (don't ask me how I know!). Third, the a priori connections have a lot of play. So make sure the pins are centered with a very small flathead screwdriver before attempting to connect the two blocks. Otherwise the pins will be bent to one side, preventing a good connection. Finally, the unit gets very hot and heats up the bottom of the cabinet it's attached to, so storing heat-sensitive items on the bottom shelf may not be practical. As a side note, setting fixtures to a single dimmer makes them much easier to dim than switching high-low dimmers on multiple fixtures. Overall a well thought out device that looks good and is easy to install.
