Review on πŸ’» Macally SLIMKEYPRO Ultra Slim Keyboard for MacBook by Willie Ogunlana

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Yes, it has issues, but it's pretty good

Of all the Mac clone keyboards, I chose this one because its key layout most closely resembles a traditional full-size Mac keyboard. The left Control, Option, and Command keys are more or less the right size and in the right place, uninterrupted by the annoying "fn" key. The forward delete button is also in the right place, which was important to me. In general I am satisfied. The touch is fairly light and responsive, and the keyboard looks nice. Most Mac keyboard shortcuts are there: monitor brightness, volume, eject, etc. One shortcut I use all the time is missing is the flight control key (F3 on a standard Mac keyboard). However, you can install if you want and create your own flight controls shortcut in the system settings. Some cons: It's significantly thinner than a wired Mac keyboard. You may notice that the entire keyboard curves in the middle as you type. It doesn't bother me much and doesn't bother me while typing, but I can see that it can drive some people crazy. As many others have pointed out, Caps Lock's LED lighting appears to have a serious flaw. The button itself works fine, but after a day or two the white Caps Lock LED on the top right stopped working. So if you accidentally press the Caps Lock button, you won't know UNTIL EVERYTHING YOU TYPE IS IN CAPITAL LETTERS. I think if you are inclined you might want to reconsider buying this keyboard. So far that hasn't been a problem for me.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Minor issues
