This is normal depending on how you use them. I put the magnet in a phone case, but I have a thin case and was able to put the magnet between the buttons and the rubber grip that holds the phone. The bracket is mounted at a slight angle on the dashboard. It holds the phone great when it's on its side but wants to slide when it's upright. However, each box comes with two magnets, and using both can solve this problem well. I was hoping I could use them on a motorcycle but they aren't strong enough to trust to hold my phone. Thicker cases also don't lend themselves to attaching a magnet inside, and magnets won't stick to a textured case. However, they work well under the circumstances described above.
