This hitch is exactly as it looks, gloss black and red and is quite heavy so expect it to be to the advertised specs. The plastic bump on the strut itself appears to be well bonded, I don't think it will fall off easily, nor will the strut pin, although over time as it is threaded it may come out as I have read in some reviews read happened. I will only attach the hitch when I need to use it, which is rare, so don't worry about losing it. Another thing you could do is just leave the hitch post itself and remove the strut itself to avoid losing it. Of course you will need to get a security pin to prevent theft as it is not included. It seems really good value considering the larger load capacity compared to others here, and there's a "never rust" dynamic when it does. I'd recommend it for now, but "pudding solid" will be when I actually use it for the first time.
