Troy's 8.5hp 8 year old snowblower had a PITA emission carburetor. Romp, not lazy, normal. Before YouTuber donyboy73 posted a solution for this, I was desperately trying to deal with it. For less than the cost of a carburetor tune at a local shop, I bought an Oregon carburetor, zero emissions of course, and installed it myself. Any professional can do this in under an hour, even less time if you are experienced. Has been going great for years. Then the tank gasket started leaking. I got this replacement for less than $20. Easy installation, heater screw holes are NOT DRILLED. Ok there are holes in it but no threads, you can try screwing in bolts/screws but the head will most likely break. Touch her to be sure. So I made the basic settings after the installation. Note that the standard 1.5 inversion from below does not necessarily apply here. In any case, it seems to perform well overall (I experienced the snowiest winter ever here in Massachusetts) but seems to need a mix adjustment almost every time I use it. Not sure why. The next replacement will likely be another Oregon.
