Vivid colors but extremely disappointing durability

I was so excited to get this keyboard case because of the bright colors of the rainbow. It fits well - better than the one I had to replace - but in just a day or two the paint started to wear off! I understand this isn't a very expensive thing, but it should have taken you several days! I extend the life of the case by putting a square piece of packaging tape on each individual button, but why would I do that to make up for poor design and/or cheap quality?
