Nature's Way to Knitting

Knitting by Nature contains some lovely patterns and is definitely worth adding to your knitting library. None of the patterns are intended for beginner knitters. I think you have to be an advanced knitter to be able to knit any of these patterns. My favorites are the following: Acorns is a shawl that looks like autumn in its orange and light green colourway. It is knitted from a combination of wool and silk and has tassels at the corners. Bleeding heart. I used to grow Bleeding Hearts in my garden and this beautiful scarf doesn't remind me of them. However, it is beautiful. Knitted with an openwork pattern of bright pink color. If I had a choice, I would change the color. Because it's knitted from bamboo yarn, it's perfect for Florida, where I live. Clematis. This scarf is knitted with a lace pattern and has a beautiful purple color. This is openwork knitting. Daylily - This scarf reminds me of a daylily. It is knitted from orange and yellow lace and merino, cashmere and silk yarns. pears. This ascot has the color of golden pears. It has one end that slides through a hole in the other end. Knitted from kid mohair/silk/lurex. Tulips - This scarf is a must for me to knit. It is knit in a modular garter knit construction that has "a tulip bud in the center of each triangle and a silk border at each intersection of the triangles". Violet - this tippet is amazing. It is knitted in a purple shade and knitted with an openwork pattern. Zebra Grass - This leader can be knit in small, medium or large sizes depending on your preference. It is knitted from cane yarn and is green and ivory in color. Most of these patterns use hand dyed yarn. "The variety of colors is what makes these skeins so spectacular." Cheryl Theis has created a wonderful book, Knitting in Nature, which I highly recommend.
