I had my doubts because I was used to buying and using disposable dryer sheets. I hate static when you undress and then a cat walks by rubbing its snout on your leg and you're both in shock. This cat then runs away and plans to kill you while you sleep. At first I only put one of the two balls in the underwear and didn't feel that they did their job well. There are no instructions at all on the pack so I had to look up its proper use. As soon as I realize I need to add all 6 balls to the big load, I'm suddenly saying different results. The clothes are softer, there is less static electricity and now my cat doesn't want to kill me anymore - at least for now. They work great with both sheets and comforters, but you can use just one or two. Add all of this as you add wash and enjoy the results.
