Good but not great. - Wall Lights

The design of this light is good - the brushed metal finish looks nice and the low profile design makes it a good idea to hide the light under the cabinet. But the light is not "bright" at all as advertised. It has two brightness levels - high and low - but even high isn't enough to really shine. I bought a style that comes with an AC adapter and found that the ambidextrous light switch only provides dim lighting using just the adapter (no batteries installed) no matter how you press the switch. Only after the batteries are inserted does the switch provide both high and low light levels. The problem is that I bought this light to install under the loft bed and over the kids table that is under the bed. I specifically buy this lantern for the velcro mounting option - as the furniture I use it with is very high quality and I didn't want to use screws in the trim. However, since I had to put in batteries - and this requires a total of 6 AA batteries - for the light to work on high settings, the weight of the light exceeded the ability of the self-adhesive Velcro to stick to the wood surface. and the light kept falling. Long story short, I had yet to screw it in, and if I had known upfront that light levels were so low, I would have ordered a fixture that actually provides the right amount of light for reading and working at the table, and just planning on screwing it up from the start.
