I have used several models of remote trainers in my history with dogs. I have trained herding dogs and also hunted birds with the same dogs that have shown skill and willingness. When choosing your dog, always consider the type of dog you have and what kind of work he likes to do. Only in the last ten years, when I have had many strange dogs with unknown history and habits, have I started using remote trainers. All of my dogs are other people's dregs and yet they now get along well with children, adults and new dogs. They have learned to trust me, but they also know that they must obey orders. All dogs must be seated and remain on command. I also teach my dogs to walk backwards on command so they don't run towards doors or stairs. I use electronic simulators to avoid accidents: hitting a road or in front of a vehicle. Attacks on other animals like chickens or cats can be quickly prevented by making dogs aware of the negative consequences of what they perceive as "fun". Then they are really valuable. This simulator is simple and the manual is very short and clear. You must carry the device with you and always use it properly to get results. I think this is a great model for dog owners unfamiliar with remote trainers. Nothing can replace a relationship with your dog based on mutual respect and affection. The deposed handler need only reinforce this with further off-leash training. So many people these days buy dogs without knowing their needs. That's why I have a dozen dogs.
