Ever since I moved into my house I have wanted to clean my dryer vent. Not just a flexible foil tube from the dryer to the wall, but a vent in my wall that extends to the vent in front of my house. I don't think this section has ever been cleaned. When I saw this brush, it seemed to me that this is a product that was actually developed for this project. Here's what I did. First I turned off the dryer. Then I removed the flexible foil tubing connecting the dryer to the wall and cleaned the entire section. Only this hose had a lot of fluff. Then I positioned my vacuum cleaner behind the dryer, turned it on, and sucked as much lint as I could out of the opening in the wall. Then I positioned the industrial vacuum hose so it was about sixteen inches inside the wall opening and left it on. Then I went outside my house where the dryer vent comes out and started installing this brush. I did about two sections at a time, hooked them up to a cordless drill and let the brush run. I made sure the brush hit all sides of the inner vent as I pushed through. I just kept going, adding sections and loading them into the vent until they were all twenty feet inside the vent. The whole time my vacuum was on the other end sucking out the lint that this brush was pushing towards it. The only thing you have to do is make sure you don't flip the drill bit during the process because if one of the sections unscrews from the rest you will have serious trouble getting that section out. I was very happy with the results but was even happier when I emptied my shop vacuum and saw how much lint it picked up. The first photo is the brush after I pulled it out (the vent is in the background) and the second photo is all the lint (30+ years old?) from the vacuum in my bin. All in all it was a very successful DIY project thanks to this great brush system. It's easily saved for next time. Highest recommendation.
