Cheap gel polish lamp of amazing quality and does the job perfectly. I see another reviewer gave it two stars and said it doesn't blow air. He never claimed to blow air! Most of these portable devices, even the expensive ones, don't have a fan. I paid less than $14 from this seller and other sellers are selling the exact same lamp for $30-$40! A few moments. 1) There are no instructions. It looks like everything is ready for you, but there is actually a piece of cardboard holding the bulbs in place that needs to be removed. After that, you need to plant the bulbs - just press them firmly. 2) There are only two control knobs - one for on and off, the other for the 120 second timer which cannot be set to any other. But it's not weak at all considering what's considered average build quality these days. I like that it has real buttons and no pressure sensitive controls. I found several other 36-watt lightbulbs for a little more than that before settling on this one — one of which was metallic red with a futuristic shape. But the lamp configuration was wrong. UV lamp warning. Many suppliers offer UVs below 36W as part of a package deal. I would avoid these products. Of course I'm new to nail polishes, let alone gels. I did a terrible job applying too thick a layer. In fact, I manually burn out the air bubbles with a lighter before curing! Anyway, each coat of SensationNail in Midnight took two two-minute shots to cure (it seemed to help if I raised my hand slightly so it was closer to the lamps and not on the blue mirror tray). They say that dark colors take longer - they don't get darker in black. Anyway, I'm so glad I didn't buy the 24w version of this unit (they have a 48w version too). It wouldn't be strong enough. Would I prefer 48 watts? Not for triple the price. At this price I'm willing to spend a few extra minutes. Also, replacement bulbs for this unit, four per pack, are cheap and easy to find. UV is not LED - you have to change bulbs quite often. I only chose UV because it is suitable for both types of paint (LED only works for LED paint), but in the future I will need an LED lamp, because good. Maybe it's psychological, but I can almost see my already wrinkled hands pucker under the blue glow (not to mention blistering under a sunlamp as a kid)! I cut the fingertips off an old pair of gloves for next time use. For the top coat, I used ProFX UV - about five dollars for 2.5 ounces! They are only sold at Walmart. It dries very quickly and while it doesn't say it's a washable top coat, it doesn't wash off. However, to be on the safe side, I smeared some petrol/butane on my nails when I was done. This is the main ingredient in many alcohol mixed quick drying products, or they use one of the alcohol mixed silicones. But butane is friendlier to shine. If you want silicone, check your hair products for shine drops and apply with a brush. Or buy a full liter of cyclopentasiloxane for half what OPI charges for a few ml. My base coat (even I flinch) was super glue. Not that I plan on using it regularly but I wanted to try the lamp and the acid free bonder/primer plus base coat I ordered wasn't here yet so I figured why not as superglue aka cyanoacrylate is the first ingredient. in the famous IBD Bonder? It worked. It's pretty ridiculous considering my age, but this is my first time ever! - where my nails don't have big sticky clumps of hair or fluff because I couldn't sit still and let them dry. The gel is a wonderful innovation. I still have my cuticles buffed, but I'm very proud of myself. I'm at the age where my lack of maintenance has become a low maintenance — seriously, what's next, professional haircuts? Provided the polish doesn't fall off and lasts a couple of weeks (I've read it does sometimes) I can do this for myself without too much trouble. I love my new lamp! PS: I know the reviews are about the product and not the seller, but I would like to point out that the lamp was well packed in double packaging and arrived very quickly.
