I bought several of these sets so that my 5 and 7 year old grandnieces could give New Year's gifts to other family members. I was hoping/planning that each of the children could make five bowls, but the 5 year old lost interest after making the second bowl. The biggest problem is that the clay has to be rolled flat in order for it to hold together, but that takes a lot of strength - the strength of an adult. To prevent the clay from sticking to the table, we placed a large sheet of cardboard underneath, but then had to separate it from the cardboard with a spatula. These children were younger than the possible ideal age for children involved in this project; We only managed to make three plates in three hours. But the kids loved the results and plan to get together to make more bowls soon.
