I received these headphones after using the ZST for a few months and then blew them out after plugging them into a bad source. They have a really flawless sound, very clean, very balanced. The sound isn't bass-heavy, but the bass has great presence. Haven't done it yet, but I can imagine mixing a recording in a DAW with these headphones as a reference. I usually use them with my phone to listen to music, especially stuff I need to learn. Also, I usually use them as headphones when playing bass live. I feel like they reproduce the sound played live in a room fairly well without hearing too much of the room if that makes sense. One downside I have with them is that they are difficult to position in the ear. I think this is mainly due to the position of the opening through which the sound enters the ear. This is sort of a right angle or 90°. In comparison, ZSTs have an angle greater than 45°, which feels more natural to the ears. As for the ear pads, I didn't bother using the standard ear pads because I ordered the Comply ear pads at the same time. The combo worked well for a while until one of the pillows in my bag ripped. I'm currently using them with a set of pillows, I've removed a pair of JVC headphones. This combination works pretty well. Overall I like them, would buy them again and most likely will have to at some point.
