I have a new shower head and the flow restrictor in the shower head is not coping well with the water pressure in my house (shower head howled and splashed) so I removed it. As a result, the water pressure was very high, which was nice, but it's a waste of water and not good for kids or dogs. I ordered this which is great for setting the flow and I can turn it off when shampooing my dogs. Some negative reviews complain about leaks. For me, the key is a moderate amount of teflon tape (not included) and not over-tightening. If you over tighten you will force the rubber washer into the male end of what you are screwing in and render it useless. You don't need a wrench, you don't need a steel handle. hand tighten only until it is snug against the washer. When I first installed it, I placed it between the shower pipe and the shower head mounting hose. It worked fine but the people who did the plumbing in my house must have been giants because this average height woman couldn't reach the shower head. Then I realized I could stick it between the hose and the showerhead itself, which would make access that much easier.
