My skin is rather oily and not that dark - NW 15 to NW 20 depending on the time of year; The experience may be slightly different for people of different complexions. A small amount goes a long way and instantly lightens a shade without looking wrong when massaged in thoroughly. Even after rinsing, the skin looks lighter, so I expect a long-term effect as a whitening agent.
