Design over quality

Purchased December 2019. It's really great, love the black velvet design with gray print and white fabric background. Unfortunately, like all duvets I've had, this one doesn't last long. The top is naturally prickly, but the bottom is very soft. Small balls of fabric also appear on the underside, which is probably due to the rough spiked feet (I use a pumice stone for the feet, ok). I hate when that happens, little balls itch on my legs. I can also notice that the fabric filling is beginning to loosen/shift inward, leaving an uneven amount of filling in different areas of the duvet. The velvety fabric dissolves. It's not there yet, but its exit, like balls of fluff, looks almost like clouds of dust all around. Very well constructed though, I haven't had any sewing issues so it's durable. I hope I can get away with it for at least a full year. in case you're wondering, I wash it once a week, sometimes two weeks. Continue on the Downy settings on gentle, lowest heat, lowest spin speed and tumble dry on low with two dryer sheets and just long enough to keep it damp and then I let it air dry completely. I'm sad yes, mostly because the design is so cute. I haven't found a beautifully designed quilt that lasts, I probably just need to lower my expectations and expect to spend a lot of money on quilts every year. Or I could just go to Jane and see if they hold up any better. Why can't there be a quilt that doesn't sacrifice quality for design?
