Merrell Moab 2 Mid GTX have lost their luster

First let me tell you a little about the Merrell Moab GTX line, Merrell made the best value hiking shoes with little or none run-in time ago . When they moved production to China, the product steadily declined. I have been a loyal customer for 15-20 years and have bought 5 different Merrell Moab GTX sets for my family over the years, with model names changing over the years. .But in the last 3 years the quality has gone from mediocre to depressing. The outsole is peeling off the case on the sides and the plastic toe cap wears out after less than a year or 5-10 uses or trips. Too bad. Merrell, the company refused to honor the guarantee after the one-year grace period overlapped with several months of limited use due to the Covid year's slowdown. What's so sad is that when the first two couples came out, they lasted at least 5 years, at least through the ordeal. Yes, but they were leather, not that cheap polymer plastic that comes from China and doesn't stick well. Stitched leather replaced my plastic material, compressed, probably by heat, and glued cheaply. Not only this problem, but for the first time I've started to develop toe compression and the boot's shoe size hasn't changed since I first wore Merrells 20 years ago. return. I tried a different lacing and added a second sock but to no avail. Wearing these boots became a torture. It's horrible to see an American company selling their products and not focusing on quality. Unfortunately, this is becoming the indicator for the entire hiking shoe industry. No more Merrells!
