Thicker seat posts will not fit. The light is bound to fade

Let me start by saying that the device itself is great and a real game changer in road riding. Without a doubt, it will save lives! However, the O-ring and fasteners are rubbish. It always baffles me that companies would put all this great technology into something and then skimp on an important part of it. I lost some of the equipment from the back of the bike due to bumpy roads, inclement weather etc so I know it needs to be secured really really well there. This one is not safe at all. How would you like to spend $200 and lose your light on the street? The problem is that there is a very dangerous mount to hold the o-rings (how difficult would it be to better secure the o-rings?). And to make matters worse, the O-rings themselves are too small to fit around the seatposts of more expensive bikes. "Big" doesn't fit the fat seatposts found on aero bikes, TT bikes, etc. You have to mount it - while that's normal for Garmin, I find it annoying. If you have fat seatposts I wouldn't buy them until they offer a better fit. Will you? Who knows? This is Garmin. You don't have enough competition to care! ***** To update. As I suspected, despite the wrong rig installed, one of the rubber mounts came loose during the ride and my Varia was dangling on my back for miles. It was easy to lose everything. If you have a bike with a wide seat post, do not purchase this item.

Pros
  • Requires a dedicated radar display or wireless integration with compatible Garmin devices (sold separately)
Cons
  • It's fine
