I bought this specifically for grinding and polishing resin objects (amulets, dice, etc.). I glue the polishing paper to the plate, twist it all the way out and voila! Perfectly polished resin. For this purpose it works great. I can not confirm real ceramics. Another thing I had to figure out for myself is the small Allen key that comes with the kit and is used to tighten the week. Make sure you do this or your wheel will slow down and stop even if you put the slightest pressure on it. I think that might be the problem a lot of people with negative reviews have.
