Review on 📼 Maxell 290058 VHS Cleaner Dry: Powerful Solution for Spotless Video Playback by Justin Hines

I received the product yesterday and followed the instructions to insert this head cleaner into my VCR (Sony SLV-790HF) and press the play button. I heard a small click (like the tape's protective cover hadn't opened properly) then the player tried to advance the cleaning tape, then stopped and the player's display showed an error code. I've tried extracting, rewinding and replaying multiple times. And always the same result. Considering I'm importing over 50 VHS-C tapes into my computer and seeing dirty head artifacts, that's very disappointing. To be fair, my VCR manual says to only use Sony cleaner, which of course is no longer available, so it might be something specific to the VCR. But if that's the case, it would be nice if the seller of this item mentions any VCRs it's not compatible with. I also checked the Maxell website support pages - no incompatibilities are mentioned. All I can say is that if you are still waiting to import your VHS tape to your computer then wait no longer and hopefully you still have or can find a clear headed VCR as I would say that this doesn't count because this product works for you.
