I've seen similar fans in commercials and so far have been generally impressed when I've tried this one. I'm impressed that it's stronger than I expected. The base has non-slip pads, strong enough and doesn't feel too fragile. The fan is very quiet and moves air properly. The oscillations usually work well, but stutter a bit, especially in battery mode. At first I thought mine was defective, but then found that the battery is a little weaker than when plugged in and therefore fluctuates a bit. Evaporation works well, as does light. The remote must be within 6 feet of the front of the base and properly oriented to work - you can bounce its signal, but range is limited. The fan has manual buttons at its base if the remote control is lost. My only criticism is that someone with hand/finger issues might have trouble working. All controls and buttons are tiny. To unlock and open the fan, you must press firmly on the small button/tab and gently unfold and gently lift the fan head. It feels really fragile and I didn't expect this fan to be able to take too much abuse. It would be great anywhere in the house, on the patio and especially in a dorm room.
