9 months UPDATE: This is still the favorite bed for all three of my cats and has held up remarkably well. I just bought a second one for another room so all three don't keep turning as they push each other to take over the bed. UPDATE 1 week in advance: While I stand by my opinion on the quality, the kittens have spoken. This bed now fights in the form of a bunch of confident hugs. A very big winner for this menagerie. I bought this bed to upgrade our previous Aspen heatbed after a few years of heavy wear. Both of my boys love to snuggle up together and the 20" has always been tight so I really wanted something bigger and the 24" seemed perfect. I chose this one because of the gorgeous blue color and it goes beautifully with the aquamarine accents in my home. It looks like a giant puff doll, a bit colorful but fun, and I'm learning to love it. Hopefully my kittens too, until they get a little unsure. They sniffed it a little cautiously and although it looked brand new in its condition, it was purchased repackaged and I suspect the scent of another animal lingers. I sprinkled some catnip on the center and one of the cats wanted it but only tried to eat the catnip resulting in her petting the plush fur. This action showed how subtle it is. He licked the bed just a little, and the pile was translucent enough to see the bedding as if she were bald. The length of the plush hides that it's sparse, not thick at all. It can be fluffed up a little once it dries, but it really shows how flimsy and minimal this bed really is. It won't hold your body heat well in any way, lacking the layers and substance to go thermal. My Bengal Chausie has no undercoat and is always looking for warmth. It can be straightened easily and, unlike similar products, does not have a removable outer layer that can be easily washed. If there was a zip entry I would probably reinforce it with extra insulation. After the pinch went away, the guys still showed no interest and continued to actively dodge. I had to lure my cats in there by turning off our heat on a 30 degree day, closing the bedroom door so they couldn't crawl under the covers and I put this bed on the warmed blanket next to me. However, I only got a cat by offering a good head brush. They might be drawn to it after they've marinated in their scents for a bit, but right now I'm not throwing away their old bed.
