This hub actually almost made me buy a new laptop! A 2015 MBP with a KVM switch in the right USB port and this thing in the left USB port. All KVM peripherals work fine on the other two computers (Laptop and Mac Pro) but intermittently fail on the MBP. Added additional KB and mouse to this hub (KVM goal overcome) with the same result! Other peripherals (extra hard drive, audio input, iLok) were disconnected intermittently during the project too! After hours of research and agonizing thoughts about buying another MacBook Pro, I needed to extract a file from my external SSD. I decided to disconnect everything and just connect the hard drive directly viola!, everything worked fine. Then I turned KVM back on and both KB and mouse worked as they should. I then reused an old 4-port USB 3.0 hub with a floppy disk drive and audio I/O. Is working! I found that Zouhi's active hub actually pulls power from the USB-MBP bus and passes all the peripherals, including the HDMI port, through to no avail. And now it's too late to bring that piece of shit back.
