The first few uses with a fully charged appliance will light the gas stove burner and "usually" (not always) your grill. The problem is that it runs out of energy to produce a decent electronic 1/6" static arc too quickly. The internal energy storage (capacitor?) isn't large enough. At half charge (as stated on the handle) it can come to a static arc or not. It's annoying. To me, this lighter is more of a gimmick than a useful, reliable tool. I'm sure other manufacturers make similar, more reliable devices, but they will cost more. Give your money instead for one of them.
