The smell is VERY strong. However, after a while it will dissipate to a more acceptable odor level. My biggest complaint is not being able to lift a stick. It was impossible. I had to put the broom handle down which made the whole thing pop out and now I can't get it down. I've tried putting the cap on and pressing down but this just breaks the deodorant on the cap so now I'm stuck with the cap all the way up and have to be careful when using it to avoid breaking it. Maybe the one I got was a fluke, I might buy it again to see if that's the case. I like how long the protection lasts, but if I can't get the stick up and down the way I want, it's not for me.
