Review on Sling Media SB500 100 Slingbox 500 by Frank Dubey

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Might work for you, but read this before you buy!

SlingBox manufactures various models. This is her peak and it's a joke! SlingMedia is a terrible company with terrible product support, but the worst thing about this device is that after you paid $275 for it, it could very well be out of warranty. Mine did, twice! And it cannot be repaired! The best this gang of thieves has to offer you is to buy them back for $30 credit towards a new SlingBox! They will then fix your broken unit VERY cheaply by replacing the circuit board and selling it to some other poor dumbass for $175. So they double it and double it with you as well since their profit from replacing the device you buy for their lousy $30 will be much higher than the $30 they gave you. Since there's no other game in town, get the Sling Box M1 or M2 if you just want to watch HD home TV shows remotely. They are much cheaper but lack some features. I'm more than happy with the performance of my M1, at least when the software is running correctly and hasn't crashed yet! I've had 2 failed SlingBox Solos and 2 failed SlingBox 500's. Just waiting for the M1 to follow suit! But if you buy, be prepared to be disappointed with the software you use with it, especially if your internet or computer isn't working perfectly, because if it wasn't, you won't be happy with the device . , or results! Also, be prepared to pay $30 for a support call after the short warranty period expires! I wouldn't use it again, but I can't find another way to watch local cable from my second home in Isla Mujeres, Mexico.

Pros

Cons
