Plastic covers are very thick and durable! They're not very pleasing to the eye because they don't fit, but I've also bought cotton slipcovers that lie down and attach to the sofa. The combination is perfect! My senior cat got sick a year ago and suddenly started peeing on my couches. I had to throw them away because I couldn't get the smell out. Not only does he pee everywhere, but he also itches like in a tray to hide it. Cotton covers absorb moisture to a high degree, so I can easily toss them in the washing machine and then spray cleaner on the plastic and give it a quick wipe. I recommend this product.
