I don't understand what they thought about it, it could have been perfect. If you mount it where you would normally mount a monitor like the Galaxy Odyssey G9, the flatness doesn't allow you to see the sides very well, it needs to be at least slightly curved, the sides are totally wasted. If they wanted you to set it up as a TV and sit back further, then why not use the TV? Many TVs now offer G-Sync. I want to use it as a desktop monitor but it has to be curved which is very disappointing.
