I recently bought a new bike and decided it was time to get a real tail bag. .I wanted something to fit a small (15.5 inch) laptop in on my commute and I started with the Ogio Tail Bag - Stealth which I felt was just the right size for a laptop. Upon delivery, I realized that I had made a mistake in this regard. . (If you're not planning on carrying more than one "webbook" or tablet, I suggest you check out both the Ogio and this bag. Both are great. Great. This one will.) Similar in size Of an Ogio Stealth backpack bag, the Cortech bag is about as solid in construction, not as slick in design (or maybe too slick) and frankly, it doesn't look as good. .But where it matters, it's a little bigger. Ogio, this is a shoulder bag with a bottom. Unlike the Ogio, its base is removable (which is probably better) but not as thick or "sticky" on the bottom. So I suspect it offers slightly less protection for the contents (from vibration) and the bike (from abrasion). Its detachable attachment straps are much longer than those of the Ogio and offer a much wider range of attachment options; So wide, in fact, that I spent a couple of hours guessing the best possible fit before finally deciding that on my bike it would be best to simply use built-in belts that tuck into the ground (probably designed to be used with available matching belts) saddlebags) and throw away the detachable ones sideways (not an option for the Ogio bag). It lacks the handy Kindle-sized pocket on the top flap that the Ogio has. But there's an "organizer" in that hatch that the Ogio doesn't have. And this operator has travel documents ("Registration and proof of insurance, please." "Yes, officer, it's right here") and an instruction manual or a Kindle (but not both). What really catches the eye is the red-lined Ogio pocket in the main compartment. Where the Ogio bag expands upwards, visibly increasing the volume of the bag without increasing the so-called "footprintโ, the main compartment of the Cortech bag expands on both sides, literally expanding the space. I can pack the same gear in the Cortech as in the Ogio (long sleeve shirt for the sunset, hat to wear off the bike, camera, sunscreen, an apple from lunch, even my jacket, ventilated and fairly flexible); The difference is that the laptop fits easily into a Cortech bag with both sides. It doesn't fit comfortably in the Ogio. Also probably worth noting is that the red lining in the main compartment of the Cortech bag makes it easier to locate small items, especially dark loose items. But I still prefer to use a few small bags to hold the contents of a large bag. This bag stays on the bike, at least as long as I have to lug my laptop around. back and forth to work.
