There appears to be no consensus in the scientific and technical community on the touted negative health effects of EMR (electromagnetic radiation), but a tremendous increase in the quantity and reach of EMR, with that we face every day represents a major environmental change that has taken place in the last generation. Therefore, I bought this product as a precaution and not as a person convinced of the necessity. However, I've used it and from my limited experience it seems to work. I find the heat reduction to be okay and not sure what other reviewers are complaining about - I believe any laptop, if it gets hot enough, will conduct heat through a third of an inch of the screen regardless of its material design. Of course, the possible negative health effects of EMR are a cause for concern. I usually work on my laptop at home and often even before bed. On a particular evening, when I was intentionally not using it, I felt energetic and had trouble falling asleep. Placebo effect? Nocebo effect? When I use the shield, I have no trouble sleeping. Anecdotal evidence, to be sure, but hey, that's what these reviews are for.
