Buddies, the mouse had a lifespan of FIVE years when it was continuously powered by the batteries that were provided in the kit. It would appear as though she has no need for them at all. In all seriousness, you can leave only one battery in the tray, and the device will continue to function as expected. My mouse is seven years old and still feels comfortable in the hand; the only thing that has worn away is the Logitech branding. The rest operates as smoothly as a well-oiled machine. It's awesome that you can change the scroll mode with the scroll wheel, which is also quite convenient. Even though it's a bit cumbersome for gaming, I'm used to it by now. As the sensor is sensitive to gloss, I had to keep a low profile while I worked (until I wiped off the coating on the table and had to buy a mat). With Windows 7, Opera's scrolling did not perform as intended; however, on Windows 10, everything is functioning normally.
