Review on MINIX NEO J50C-8SE: High Performance Intel Pentium Silver Mini PC with Windows 10 Pro (64-bit) - 8GB RAM, 240GB Storage, Triple Display Support, 4K @ 60Hz, Dual-Band Wi-Fi by Luis Norman

So far, so good.

We bought a couple of these for the office. I took 4GB of RAM from one and added it to the other, then replaced the missing RAM in the first device with an 8GB chip. I was concerned about being able to run Windows and Office software and stream videos with only 4GB. So it was a preventive measure. We came across a Minix version with a 240GB SSD built in. Thing is cute, opens in about 30 seconds (4 screws after you remove the little rubber feet) and snaps into the included plastic VESA mount which screws into the back of the Benq screen we bought. Note the following: this is compatible with a 60Hz screen, which suits us. Also, if you want to attach it to a monitor and use the monitor stand at the same time, make sure the monitor stand mount doesn't use or interfere with the Vesa mount! This thing works right out of the box and performs as you would expect straight out of the box. It even came with an HDMI cable, so it didn't lower the price. We had to buy a compact USB extension cable (multi-port) as it only comes with 3, but the device is tiny and light and still works very well for us at a great price. If things go like this for a year or so, we'll jump in and get a few more for our office. We don't put insane loads on our computers, but when I went cheap with an HP with a lame processor and 4GB of RAM, it was unbearably slow. Minix seems to be much better, especially with an SSD. If I can't get one with an integrated SSD in the future, I've now seen what the thing looks like inside and adding a pre-built SSD would be a no-brainer and I wouldn't think twice about it. That.
