Review on ASUS PG329Q: 2560X1440P DisplayPort DisplayHDR, 175Hz Refresh Rate, Flicker-Free & Adjustable - A Comprehensive Review by Jason Matthews

Don't buy if HDR is important to you

This monitor's HDR mode is designed, and ASUS Support has repeatedly confirmed that it is designed to turn off automatically after 60-90 minutes (time varies, but is always within this range). In their own words, this is done to extend the life of the monitor; the tacit admission that if this wasn't built into the monitor and couldn't be turned off, having HDR on all the time would drastically reduce the life of the monitor. Pretty annoying bait and switch from ASUS. But even without HDR, the monitor is good for the price and size - good colors, brightness, white balance is good. That's why it gets 3 stars: I don't need HDR so it suits the games I play. Wouldn't recommend it.

Pros
  • The fast IPS technology delivers a response time of 1 ms (GTG) for pin-sharp gaming graphics at high frame rates.
Cons
  • Low Brightness: If the monitor's brightness is set too low, the image may appear washed out or too dark.
