For my standard Honda Rebel 250 passenger seat, it sits well up, I can fit long straps on the passenger footpegs and it's nice and secure. I had an opportunity to attach different straps to the rear turn signal studs, but that was due to a modification. In any case, with footpeg straps tightened, it's still very secure. Surprisingly, takeoff doesn't take long either, although I always hold on when I'm not taking a passenger. I use it for small items until I find a tank bag, but I managed to fit a large motorcycle armored jacket in it. It's dense and actually acts like a good back when you fill it. I definitely recommend it.
