Easy install, installs straight away

I chose this light over several others because it seemed the easiest to install and cost a few extra bucks. I assume the quality of the LEDs is otherwise similar. I was replacing a fluorescent light under a cabinet whose switch had failed. It was mounted flush to the wall and I knew the wiring went to the center of the back. This LED light has cut outs throughout including the center back panel which I knew I needed. It also has enough space for wiring. Both features are conspicuously absent from other similar devices. If you watch the user video for this product you can see how it looks/works. This user attached the pigtail before assembly so it was a bit easier for him, but I still found it informative. To minimize the time on the head I did the following: - Removed the panel to access the wires and nuts. You can leave it hanging open as the wiring to the switch will keep it from going far. The screws are tiny and a little brittle, but I had no problem carefully removing them without damaging them. - Remove the knockout plug I need. - Screw the mounting screws into their holes. A nice feature is that you can thread a few threads before the screw comes out at the top, so they stay in place when you position the mount, even upside down. The mounting screws aren't very strong, but that probably made it easier to screw them into the bottom of the cabinet, which I was able to do by hand. The device is very light so I don't think it's going anywhere. If you find you need pilot drilling, you should reinstall the jig and mark/drill pilot holes before installing the screws. Then I brought the light to the installation site, stretched the wires from the wall to the light. through the knockout hole and held the bracket in place with one hand while I manually screwed the mounting screws into the case above. Be careful not to take them off. All went well but I was ready to secure and drill pilot holes when it appeared I would remove the screw head before driving the screws in well. Now that the bracket is in place and the lid open I used the nuts provided to connect the 3 wires from the wall to the bracket. The wires from the wall were strong and therefore rigid, so it wasn't difficult to get the wires more or less in place before replacing the cover. on the. The lid slides into the back of the mount, allowing you to attach the back and insert wires at the last minute before rotating the lid. I held the lid in place with one hand and was able to tighten the screws to secure the lid with my fingers - they're long enough to screw in a few turns and stay in place with ease. Then I (carefully) tightened it with a screwdriver. If necessary, have a helper hold the cover in place (or even tape it in place) while using both hands on the screws. I took my time with it, but it didn't last long. I could probably make more in minutes now that I'm familiar with the tools and process. The light (daylight version) is a nice medium white - just right for us. I see no need for a dimmer. It's also instant which some of my other LED lights don't have. In general I am very satisfied. Time will tell as to durability - I was disappointed that a couple of expensive LED bulbs failed quickly - hope the technology is better now.
