Review on πŸ”΄ Inateck KT4001 PCI-e to USB 3.0 (4 Ports) Expansion Card with 15-Pin Power Connector - Red by Drew Panah

A few tips for Windows 10 Oculus Rift owners.

The rest is included, so here are my impressions: 1. Installation is quite easy. The mainboard must have a slot to connect the appropriate cable from the power supply. If you've never dug into your computer before, don't be intimidated. Just make sure you unplug the power cord from your computer before doing anything, remove static electricity from your body (like touching a metal object in the room), and don't disconnect anything inside the computer when you move. Close everything, reconnect your computer.2. Don't use the installation CD - it's hopelessly outdated. The correct drivers are on the Inateck website, the ones ending in "a" (the one BELOW the manual). I had some trouble installing them, but they finally got the hang of it. I don't know how/why the difficulties arose (I made a few driving mistakes), but patience is a virtue.?3. Restart your computer after installing the driver.4. You can connect Oculus sensors to it. I have two. Just NO headset. Also, if you use USB extenders of any kind, you could be out of luck. Personally, my headset kept falling off when plugged in instead of directly onto the motherboard. Zero problems with the two sensors I have.5. Check the Device Manager instructions (according to Inateck) as well as the Oculus device information (under Settings) to make sure everything is working properly. If you did this as per step 4, everything should point to a USB 3.0 connection. If something isn't working, most likely the card isn't installed properly, the same goes for the cable to the power supply, or you accidentally pulled something out during installation. In short: easy to fix, don't panic. :) If in doubt, reboot. Any new card/hardware can be scary. Reboots, reinstalling drivers often fix it. And they want another one. Finally. 6. Install the free Oculus Tray Tool. The Fresco chipset tends to disable USB ports (read: sensors!) at the worst of times. This tool fixes that by disabling the annoying power saving mode.
