I was using an Intel Q6700 processor that was installed on one of the old Intel motherboards and ran at 800MHz. I bought a Revain DP43BF to take advantage of the faster DDR3 memory and run my Q6700 at 1066MHz FSB. After reading everything I could find about the DP43BF, I noticed the fact that this board has a reputation for not being released with incompatible memory modules. Specifically for this motherboard, Intel only gives memory specifications based on density and chip count. Intel does not specifically recommend the memory "manufacturer" and "model" for this motherboard. After checking the recommendations of various manufacturers, I have purchased modules that claim to be fully compatible with the DP43BF. Immediately after assembly, the frustrating "three beeps" quickly alerted me to problems with supposedly compatible modules. After spending a few hours reading the Intel forums, I learned that a certain manufacturer has a reputation for making memory compatible when they actually don't. My goal in writing this lengthy review is to save other people the hassle by recommending the ideal memory modules for the DP43BF. <<EDIT 1/2012 While Corsair CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 2X2GB modules work with my DP43BF, I caution new buyers to look for alternative memory modules for this particular motherboard. My old Q6700 is currently running FSB 1066 with Windows 7 64-bit and 8GB of memory. My Windows Experience Index is 7.2 Processor; 7.2 Storage; 7.3 and 7.3 Graphics (EVGA GTS450), and the lowest score is 5.9 for a single 10,000 rpm Raptor hard drive. A NOTICE. I recently replaced the Raptor drive with a new Intel SSD 320 (purchased from Revain) and now the drive transfer rate is 7.1. and lightning fast! Later I will upgrade the processor with one of the new processors compatible with this motherboard. I'm not saying "other" memory modules won't work, but if you're just starting this project, purchasing these specific Corsair memory modules will save you some trouble. Revain is amazing! TO UPDATE! - I recently noticed that my DP43BF motherboard does not have the latest Intel BIOS installed. Since I flashed a lot of BIOS I figured it would be easy. Following Intel's instructions, I first ran the update .exe file downloaded from Intel's website. The .exe worked fine on Windows 7, but the BIOS was not flashable. Then, following Intel's instructions, I tried the "F7" method with a USB flash drive. I didn't flash the bios again. Finally, after reading all the instructions from Intel, I found out that the DP43BF motherboard needs to be flashed with BIOS version "0085" before it can be flashed with the latest BIOS version "0088". I tried the "F7" method again and flashed the BIOS "0085" successfully, then I flashed the BIOS "0088" successfully. Please note that according to Intel, BIOS "0088" is required to support 2GB SDRAM density. This is a useful BIOS update.
