For skiing, I've always used a two-layer system, even though my "system" consisted of two different elements, such as: B. black thin fleece combined with a winter jacket. Has always worked great. This jacket uses this concept, although the inner layer is not fleece. I wasn't sure if I would like this pair but I have to tell you it all works. Depending on the weather, I wear a coat or both when it's very cold. In fact, the inner layer is great for the city as long as it's not too cold or too humid. Speaking of cold, I live in Minnesota so skiing below 0F is not uncommon. Throw in a long sleeve shirt and leg warmers (an absolute must!) and you can't go wrong. Was in Loveland, Colorado last season during a cold and severe storm that dropped over 15 inches in one day of skiing and this jacket performed great. As I have (and still have) much more expensive "technical" jackets I really think this jacket compares well with them. 1/2 to 1/4 the cost.
