I agree with another reviewer that this clip is difficult to open. I can usually take apart the bobby pins with my fingertip and slide them into my hair. It takes more effort. I think it's because the metal is very strong. Of course, when tightened, they hold tight, so I'm not sure tightness is a "bad" thing. Otherwise they are a nice dark brown and just the tiny size I need for baby hair.
