They are not as thick as those I bought in other places. I'm assuming they're still fine for now and can be flipped without the cats tearing them apart. (Otherwise I will change the rating). What I like is that the sides of the box are higher than most. If I get two extra pads, the sides help hold all the little bits of cardboard that form when cats use this type of scratching post. When all three pods are in the box they fit on top of the box so if you want to store extra pods they can be stored there.
