Review on ๐ŸŽธ Rock-Tips Liquid Callus Formula for Guitar, Bass, and Stringed Instruments - 4.0 mL by Denise White

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I use it as an add-on to SuperGlue

I play horizontally a lot more than most guitarists and slide my fingertips up and down the strings instead of staying in a fixed position. The problem is that the coiled strings rub my calluses a little every time I slip. (I also press too hard, which is an unfortunate habit I can't get rid of.) As a result, I have injured fingertips during longer sessions -- either from abrasions or bruises. And damn it, I hate finally getting into a rhythm and then not being able to use my fingers for a day. My decision? 1. Flattop strings, which are usually wound but then lightly polished to reduce friction/squeak. 2. Superglue combined with Rock Tips. What is the difference between superglue and this product? SG is much cheaper, more durable, but gives a rougher surface and is not as easy to remove. Rock Tips create a smoother, harder surface but don't last long and can be easily removed after playing. Conclusion: For cost reasons, I only train with SG. But if I'm going to record or play with others, I'll first apply a layer of SG and then a layer of Rock Tips on top for a higher quality finish. If the session lasts a while, I reapply Rock Tips regularly. With each product, I am amazed to see scales falling from my fingertips onto my foot when I slip. I look down and I'm glad it's just sanded off glue and not my hard-fought calluses...
