Review on 🔥 Sleek and Advanced: Samsung BD-P1600 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player (2009 Model) Offers Enhanced Entertainment Experience by Jason Mitts

Tested the player last night, it worked fine, I spent the morning running Cat 5 in the back of my entertainment center. As expected, once everything was connected I received a message to update my firmware. I followed previous reviewers advice and updated via USB flash loaded onto my laptop (while testing my LAN line), now I have version 2.03 dated 9/17. Firmware installation was easy and worked, none Freezes experienced by previous reviewers (I've had freezes for other reasons detailed below). I plan to update my firmware for the next update via a LAN connection. In terms of functionality, I found some shortcomings in the player that I think can be fixed with the next firmware update. For one thing, the device was locked after a long break. We paused the movie several times, and as soon as the splash screen appeared, the device locked up and I had to turn it off and on again. After doing this twice, the next time I hit the stop button, thinking I could use the 'resume playing' feature; However when I clicked the "Play" button it went back to the beginning where I stopped watching. I suspect operator error for the second one and will go through the manual tonight to make sure it's true. Most players I've had in the past had a resume play feature, so I'm assuming this is a firmware issue. I would rate it a 5 if it weren't for these two issues. I've played on both YouTube and Pandora and both have worked flawlessly. I don't have a Netflix account so I didn't try it. I grabbed a blockbuster, but the only thing that popped up was an untitled "soon" window. The quality of the movie playing from the Blu-ray DVD was excellent, I had to fiddle with the audio output setting to get my A/V receiver to pick up a Dolby Digital DTS Master HD signal (set the player to play a Bitstream outputs (audio file) and then everything worked fine ). I have a Panasonic 50 inch plasma that is about 2 years old and a Pioneer Elite A/V tuner. Connectivity: LAN, HDMI to A/V receiver, plus a 2GB Sandisk flash drive for BD-Live which I couldn't reach. works Again probably a user error All in all a good player for the price, I will update after some time UPDATE 10/13/2009 - I successfully updated to the latest version on the Ethernet network last week, no problem. Another reader let me know it was there and asked if they fixed the resume play feature and pause issues I was having above, well that's partial. Over the weekend I've let the player pause until the splash screen appears and I can easily pick up where I left off. However, the resume play feature didn't work after the blue ray disc was completely stopped. The resume play function works with regular DVDs. I played The Incredibles with the kids last night and this player did a great job converting regular DVDs, the picture was excellent.
