This unit has a tilt switch which I think is a must when there are pets or children around - unfortunately most portable heaters don't have this. The operation of the control unit that sits on top of the heater may seem obvious in hindsight, but it took me some time to understand how it works. First, it's a separate power button, marked with the same icon as computers. Then there's the "SET" button, which performs a series of six selections. It first goes into "HI" mode, which continuously runs the heater at 1500W, then through four temperature settings that automatically adjust the heater to maintain the chosen temperature, and then into "LO" mode , which operates the heater continuously at 900 W. The low setting confused me at first because it's the last item in the selection sequence, but it appears first on the digital display. I am very happy with this heater so far.
