I wanted these for making different types of necklaces. I wasn't sure what size I needed for what type of string material so I bought this set. I am very happy with it. I may order more than one size in the future, but now I know what sizes I need. I like small tubes for each type - I can track the size and different sizes don't get mixed up. (I've bought other dies that came in small leaky bags and these are way better! ) I use the smallest monofilament (mainly fishing line) for illusion style necklaces. They pretty much just hold one bead in place, and that's what they're good for. I use the larger ones on some Accuflex wire on the ends so there are loops for attaching to fasteners and other cables. I just crimp them with the crimping tool I always had and it works well and holds a reasonable weight. They match in color/tone quite well with my other inexpensive gold plated platings, clasps, chains etc. The finish is decent - smooth and although most of the time they are in places where they are difficult to see.
