Review on ๐ŸŸจ Enhanced Brother LC101Y Yellow Ink Cartridge for Improved Printing Performance by Blake Giordano

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Quality is good, quantity not so much.

The quality of the ink doesn't matter, it's the quantity that counts compared to this MFC device. I'm a low volume home user but the ink levels seem to dip lower and lower over time and don't seem necessary with my use. The same applies to black hi-yield cartridges and esp color cartridges. Colors do not always correspond to reality. For my needs I prefer black. High output doesn't necessarily mean high output, so I'll stick with standard output. Update: 1/3/20 Well for the last 2 weeks I've been getting a reminder "black ink is almost empty". 3 colors are also low but no warnings yet. In the past I was able to squeeze out more pages by printing solid black when the J450DW MFC printer refused to print anything when at least one of the color cartridges was declared empty. Also, it is not known exactly how many monochrome/black printed pages are left when the black cartridge shows "low". I've tried black Hi-Yield and they don't last more than 4-5 months. The stock black seems to be in an unusable condition so I'm giving it around 4 months of use. In the past, I've tried to work around a color-dependent black and white misprint problem by putting black tape over the color cartridge windows to make the machine think the color front is ok. Didn't work so well on a recent try, I had to buy expensive color cartridges and they don't last very long. So if you're wrong because the price of your cartridges has increased little or not at all (I believe that's the case with many consumables), look at the quantity provided. Most likely, over time, the contents of the cartridge became smaller and smaller. It's the same as raising prices, guys. We're often lured into sticking with a product because there's little or no external price change, but that's a marketing illusion. Remember freezing the South American coffee crop a few years ago? The price of coffee has skyrocketed. The following years with normal temperatures could not lower prices to normal levels. Best known as a hidden tax in other areas. So be smart. Don't be fooled into buying a cheap printer even if it has a good rating if it's prohibitively expensive to maintain. It's the consumables that bring the most profit. ink in this case.
