My Pioneer receiver, which is over 40 years old, hasn't even seen the local classical music station PBS. Another amp - MUCH older - with a tuning knob allowed me to FIND the station and play it, but it squeaked. The ground here is pretty flat, so I'm surprised it's so difficult to get this public college radio station to work. I went with this amp and combined with the existing one it got the job done. NO scratching. Went from the bar to two bars (out of 3) PLUS and perfect sound. ONE disadvantage that I would like to draw the manufacturer's attention to: they speak of ideal positioning for reception, but give short cables. In addition, the cables are laid rigidly. TWO disadvantages of each technique.
