It really broke with use.
At the age of 52 I can say that I have never had a worse piston. Today it has actually been taken out of use. The rubber band broke where the stick was attached. This turned out to be lucky though, as I can now replace that "piston". It never submerged the toilet well and I couldn't justify replacing a "working" plunger. I can't tell you how much worse this butt compares to a plain wood-handled butt. You should almost buy it to see how badly it sinks. I would rate it as 30% more efficient and just better than no piston at all.
