Don't take 1000/6000, the silicone mount is NOT non-slip.

I used to sharpen a lot of knives. It dulled my scissors and knives. Maybe it's the graininess? I'm not sure, but my dad has another black and orange brand that works great. Also, the black silicone mount is NOT non-slip. The block moved several times. Be sure to put a towel underneath for extra support if you decide to buy one. It's a waste of money if you buy a Target branded towel or something like that instead.

Inexpensive Whetstone Stone

This stone costs less than $12. I'm not sure of the accuracy of the grit, but I've used it successfully to keep my kitchen and pocket knives sharp enough. Is splitting hairs scary? nope Quickly finished with vegetables and sharp packing tape? Yes. And my technique is quite imperfect, I'm sure as I improve I'll make it sharper. I use 1000 stone for a few minutes on each side and then 6000 stone to sling. Overall, I would recommend this stone to those who just need to keep their knives sharp but…

Easy to use and suits me

I'm not a chef so my knife sharpening skills are far from professional. I have some really good knives I want to sharpen without damaging the blade. This whetstone will help you if you follow the instructions. Ie first soak it in water, set the right angle, etc. I don't know what the different grits do. I use the one below. He sharpened my knives so they could easily cut through ripe tomatoes. This is my sharpness test. Also my test of when a blade needs to be sharpened. When he can't pierce…
